With effect from September 1st 2013, the current national curriculum has been disapplied. This is to enable schools begin to teach the national curriculum which comes into effect in 2014.
Read more here: http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/teachingandlearning/curriculum All foundation subjects have also been disapplied for Key Stages 1 and 2. Equip your teachers to teach the key Stage 2 history requirement study of: a non-European society that provides contrasts with British history - Benin West Africa. This website provides all you need to teach this aspect of the new history curriculum (2014). Teachers can contact me through this website too. Have fun with this topic. The aim of this website is to educate and inform teachers, scholars and everyone else about this great kingdom whose importance and achievements we are only beginning to fully appreciated.
For instance, how very expensive it must have been for the kings to purchase bronze from abroad to use in recording their history. Bearing in mind that they generated their own income and could have chosen to spend these on other pursuits; rather they chose to capture their achievements on metal records for posterity. But for the Kingdom of Benin kings , we would not have such detailed and intricate records about the extent of African kingdoms civilizations and achievements which are told vividly in a way that can be described as metal-graphic in the absence of photography and video recordings. Please feel free to add a comment or additional information that will help achieve this aim. Thank you very much. |
