The DFE has released results of its consultation on assessment (March 2014).
A quick summary follows: 1) On the Government response link below you will find information on assessment requirements and summary of key assessments points e.g. more challenging tests will be introduced to reflect the new more challenging curriculum; scaled scores rather than levels will be used at the end of the key stages; current assessments and tests will remain for Reception, Year 1 and end of Key Stage 1 and 2. 2) Information for schools link below takes you to useful web links on different subjects which will support you and your school in implementing the new national curriculum. You will also find links to on-line tools to help your school review and develop the new curriculum including Teacher Development. 3) These links take you to the primary national curriculum changes timetable from 2013 to 2016 and mandatory timelines for all school types. Teaching and learning activities on this web site are suitable for all Year groups.
The e-learning page provides links to excellent subject specific websites where you can find free resources for teachers, students and parents and in this respect, it could be considered as an Aladdin’s Cave. The writing activities have been done successfully with key Stage 2 students (ages 7-11) and can be adapted for younger and older age groups.
